2003 FLASHBACK: Kerry repeatedly calls Iraq coalition partners forced, bribed, and extorted
The Commonwealth Club of California ^ | 3/13/2003 | John Kerry

(The following is an excerpt of a transcript of a speech John Kerry made to the Commonwealth Club of California, in San Francisco. This speech took place less than a week before the Iraq war commenced.)

John Kerry - March 13, 2003

It is an honor to be here as you celebrate your 100th birthday year. You have not only been an important forum for public discussion and debate, but a pioneering force for progress in our country. The Commonwealth Club published a study on child labor in 1906 and a study on air pollution in 1912. I guess traffic on the 80 must have been pretty significant even back then, too.

(...)

We cannot leave states like California without help or hope, with no choice except massive tax increases or drastic cuts in services that will impact the quality of life and standard of living and the long-term hopes of our generation and the next. If the federal government can find billions of dollars for a coalition of the coerced and the bribed, why can't it provide vital aid for schools, health care and law enforcement in California?

Here is yet another datapoint showing John Kerry's opinion of those fighting for freedom and security. This one shows how Kerry's disdain for these stellar men and women is as 'international' as he is.

The mainstream media tries to tell us that Senator Kerry had only the highest opinion of our fighting forces in mind when he told students that they better study hard and try to be smart, lest they "get stuck in Iraq". But they never mentions the other quotes that the Bohemian playboy has littered history with. Others have already brought up Kerry's infamous "Atrocities in the manner of Ghangis Khan" speech during the Vietnam War, and his "Terrorizing women and children in the dark of night" speech describing Americans fighting terrorists in Iraq.

And here's another for the top of the pile: In March 2003, Kerry, while campaigning to be the Democrat's nominee for the Presidency, denigrated Great Britian, Australia, Spain, Poland, Italy, and the rest of our coalition partners, who were one week away from going to war in Iraq. He did this on multiple occasions:

- In Des Moines, Iowa on 3/8/03, Kerry called the fighting forces of these nations "some trumped-up, so-called coalition of the bribed, the coerced, the bought and the extorted". (Quote documented by the Des Moines Register at the following link: Kerry: Bush should bend on Iraq . We are not allowed to post Des Moines Register articles on FR.)

- Just a few days later, in San Francisco on 3/13/03, Kerry again called our partners "a coalition of the coerced and the bribed", as documented in the speech transcript above.

The Iraq war started on 3/19/03. Senator Kerry sure has a way of firing up the troops, doesn't he? And he does! It's just that the troops he was seeking to fire up weren't U.S. troops, weren't British or Polish or Spanish troops, weren't any troops about to risk their lives to stop the terror of Saddam Hussien at all. No - he was motivating Democratic Party troops, motivating them to vote for him.

This is why Kerry's latest gaffe is relevant to next week's elections: because it tells the nation what the Democratic Party leadership thinks will motivate their core base.

And that's because it does motivate the Democrat's core base. Who won the Democratic Presidential Primary? John Kerry.

And that's why we have to put the GOP's internal differences aside for the next week, and fight like hell to keep these Democrats out of the reigns of power.

What happened this week gets to the heart of the whole matter. GOTV, dammit. GOTV, like there's no tommorow.

Good point. And a point that I'm sure the Lurch never brings up.

I'm sure the Wealthy Widow fancier will get around to apologizing to our Coalition partners, now that he finally said "sorry" to our servicemembers. But maybe I shouldn't hold my breath....

Yeah, but it's not just him - it's his party, too.

As bumbling and overspending as the Republicans often have been recently, they aren't the dangerous a$$hats that the Democrats are.

You operate on the assumption that Kerry understands what "stare decisis" means.

There's no precedence for him showing that much intelligence.

I am having fun with Stare Decisis.

It was so important in approving the Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.

And now, we can apply it to John F. Kerry.

Turn-about!

I hope it isn't wishful thinking. I've been sending letters to the editors in every state where there is an embattled Rep. Every conservatie should do the same to get the message out. '08 will be especially important. We can't make the mistake we did when Clinton got elected. We have to make a decision to back one horse and stick with it otherwise we might get another Clinton presidency. Heaven Forbid!!!!
